JOSEPH PELL (d. by 1650)


Joseph Pell died by 23 April 1650. He married first Elizabeth Taylor. [1] He married second Johanna Crocket. [1] He married third Elizabeth Wight by 1650. [1][2] She married first Nathaniel Heaton on 21 April 1630 in Alford, Lincolnshire. Nathaniel, the son of William and Elizabeth (Sedgwick) Heaton, was baptized on 22 December 1602 in Habrough, Lincolnshire. [2] Elizabeth married third John Maynard after 1650. [2]

Joseph and (probably) Johanna came to New England about 1638. [1]

Joseph received 10 acres in Lynn in 1638. He probably moved to Boston. He was a freeman in Boston on 14 March 1638/9. [3]

The inventory of Joseph Pell, butcher of Boston, was taken on 23 April 1650 and amounted to £25-02-05, with debts of £13-15-02. The division of his estate—agreed by his widow, Elizabeth Pell, and his children —was accepted by the court on 25 April 1650. [4]

Children of Joseph Pell and Elizabeth Taylor:

i. Eleanor Pell was baptized on 12 November 1620 in Great Hale, Lincolnshire. [1] She married first John Boynton about October 1643. [1] John, the son of William Boynton, was born about 1614 in Knapton, Wintringham, East Riding, Yorkshire and buried on 18 February 1670/1 in Rowley. [1] Eleanor married second as his second wife Maximilian Jewett on 30 August 1671 in Rowley. [1] Maximilian, the son of Edward and Mary (Taylor) Jewett, was baptized on 4 October 1607 in Bradford, Yorkshire and died on 19 October 1684 in Rowley. [1] He married first Ann ___. [1] She was buried on 9 November 1667 in Rowley. [1] Eleanor probably married third as his third wife Daniel Warner. [1] Daniel, the son of William Warner, was born about 1616 and died on 9 September 1688 in Ipswich. [1] He married first Elizabeth ___. [1] She died on 1 November 1659 in Ipswich. [1] He married second the widow Faith Browne. [1] Faith, the widow of Edward Browne, died on 10 November 1679. [1]

ii. Elizabeth Pell was baptized on 7 September 1623 in Great Hale. [1]

Children of Joseph Pell and (perhaps) Johanna Crocket:

iii. Anne Pell died on 8 November 1701 in Newbury. She married Daniel Thurston.
